At Simon Fraser University (SFU), Iron Age Manufacturing was proud to deliver a comprehensive custom metal fabrication package designed to meet both functional performance and architectural excellence. Project Overview
For SFU’s latest campus upgrade, our team designed, fabricated, and installed a range of architectural metal components, including custom railings, cladding panels, and metal trims, all engineered to complement the university’s contemporary design language. The challenge was to create elements that not only met strict safety and structural standards but also enhanced the visual harmony of the surrounding architecture.
Materials and Fabrication Process
Each component was crafted using high-grade steel and aluminum, selected for their strength and weather resistance in Vancouver’s variable climate.
Our fabrication process included:
CNC cutting and precision welding for seamless joints and clean geometry
Custom framing with 2” x ½” steel flat bars for rigidity and stability
Durable powder-coated finishes to ensure long-term performance and color retention
On-site installation and alignment with millimeter accuracy for a refined architectural finish
The result is a sleek, modern assembly that demonstrates Iron Age’s expertise in merging craftsmanship with engineering precision.
